Nightmoves // Friday August 16
8am – Because it rained last night and it will be nice and cool in the morning go meet your buddy at Town Lake and go on a run around the South First St. bridge. Bring it back around to the foot bridge that goes under Mopac. Sprint across to the finish.
9am – Grab a morning beer from the fridge (Mexican beer if you got it) and drink it in the shower. Very refreshing.
9:45 – Show up at work.
5pm – Head on home to chill for a bit cause you woke up early this morning to take on this Friday. Grab a sixer of some easy to drink beers on your way home. Some nights, the moves are tough to do because the vibes may be a little off tonight for some reason. Plus, you still might be wasted from the last Nightmoves. You could go to the Mohawk to see Mirror Travel and Balmorhea for $12, but you’re not that into those bands and that would eat into your $40 for the night. If you had a ticket to My Bloody Valentine at Austin Music Hall, you could go see them but you don’t have a ticket. Drink a few of those beers and round up troops.
10pm – Meet them at Cheer Up’s on bike and see what’s cracking. Pull out $40 bucks. If it’s not cracking, head out after your one beer over to the White Horse. The pool table is usually open if you get there early enough. Practice “Martha My Dear” on the outside piano too. Spend $20. (You have $20 left.)
11:30 – Ride your bike to Dirty 6th and go check out Empire Machines and Young Girls. Both are very good bands. You can read our interview with Young Girls here. $5 for entry, $3.50 per Bud bottle. You have two so $9 including tip. (You have $11 left)
12:30 – Head back over to the White Horse. By now you should be feeling fairly saucy and ready to do some two-stepping. The bands are always killer in the Horse. If you don’t know how to two-step go ask a girl to teach you how. It’s really easy. Just try not to pick your feet up. It’s more off a gliding motion than actually stepping. Get a shot of Whisky and a Lone Star. That should hold you over for the rest of the night. $7 plus tip. If not, you can definitely buy another beer if you want. (You have $4 left).
2:10 – Exit the White Horse and talk to your friends in the parking lot. Say your goodbyes. Make your way to your bike. The night is relatively cool for August in Austin. Ride slowly back home.
