Show Preview & Interview: The Trimms
Here at the Fussus, we’re partial to bands we feel are genuine. Often, simplicity lends itself well to that quality. The Trimms are a band who seem very genuine in their approach: write it, play it, record it. Their songs vibe with a certain bluesy simplicity. They sort of sound like the White Stripes De Stijl era, if that helps. They cover early White Stripes. The only record we could find online was a live recording. They’re playing at the Parish Underground tomorrow night. You can stalk the event here. We asked lead Trimm, Dillon Trimm, a few questions about the band and what they like, so get to know them a bit here, and then go spend $5 on them tomorrow night.
The Fussus: When/how did the Trimms form?
DT: The Trimms started in Houston Texas in August of 2011. The Singer Dillon Trimm and Drummer Gabe Bravo performed in a project together in 2007.
The Fussus: What (if any) pre-show drinking rituals do you guys have?
DT: WE LOVE WHISKEY!!!! We usually kill a bottle of some cheap whiskey at our shows, practices, recording sessions, and pretty much any time we hang out haha.
The Fussus: What’s your favorite White Stripes/Jack White record?
DT: Everything Jack White touches is fantastic. I do love the new solo album though… -Dillon Trimm
The Fussus: Assemble your band dream team that features a singer, guitarist, bassist, drummer, and one other person. Go:
DT: Singer: Robert Plant, guitarist: Jimmy Page, bassist: John Paul Jones, drummer: John Bonham, second vocalist. Emily Armstrong (Dead Sara)
The Fussus: Have you guys played in Austin before? If so, when and where and what did you think?
DT: We have never played in Austin before!!! We are Extremely excited! Cant wait to meet the venue and the bands, and cant wait to PARTY in AUSTIN!!!!!
Our profffffffesssssional recommendation is to listen to their song “Already Mine” as a good entry point:
