NIGHTMOVES

9am – look for a cheap bike on Craigslist. Buy it today if you can, cause you’ll need it for this tonight’s Nightmoves. (If you can’t, buy that shit it at a later time and borrow your roommates bike for now.) Look for bikes.

5pm – Leave work early and go to Waterloo Records to see this band called Camper Van Beethoven. They had a big hit in the 90s and they seem to be relevant again. While you’re watching them, think about that notion. You can talk about it later that night and seem insightful.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDB9oCgVHGw&w=525&h=394]6:10 – Dart home and stop in at a liquor store to pick up some shitty champagne and some high pulp OJ. On the way, call your friends and have them over to pre-game before you head out tonight. Tell them about nimosoas, which are mimosas at night. If there are still potential significant others from last week’s Nightmoves, hit them up and invite them over. You’re young and young people crave knowing that they’re wanted.

6:50 – At home pack bike up in the car first thing cause you don’t want to do it later.

7:10 – Make a test nimosa to make sure you’re on point. Work up a badass playlist that’s really going to put people in the mood. Start it off with Van Morrison’s “Jackie Wilson Says”.

7:30 – Drink with friends and others at house. Talk about Camper Van Beethoven show and their relevancy in 2013. Drink the shit out of your nimosas and share them with everyone.

9:30 – Head over to Cheer Ups. Pick up pack of gum on the way at the gas station and pull out $40.

10pm – Cheer Ups is most likely bangin’. Talk to your friends and strangers about the concept of nimosas and how they’re just as refreshing in the evening. Grab a Pabst and and check out the bands there. Most likely, they’ll be interesting, and possibly even awesome. Have another Pabst ($10 including tip for both). You have $30 left to spend.

11pm – Head down to dirty 6th, ride bike by Barbarella’s to see how the vibes are. Go see Tiger Waves at the Parish ($5). Get deep into your nimosa buzz. The other bands are good but split right after their set. You have $25 left.

12am – Ride bike over to Hotel Vegas and celebrate Mick Jagger’s birfday. He’s made it this far. Hotel Vegas most likely has a beer that is $1, but to play it safe here on Nightmoves, buy a shot of well whiskey and one Lone Star, and then do it again an hour later ($18 max including tip). You have at least $7 left. Whiskey and cheap beer mix great with nimosas. Dance to the R&B.

2am – Head out of the venue and walk around to the White Horse. Sometimes they don’t really close right away and you might be able to sneak in to get a Tecate or something. ($4 including tip).

2:30 – Ride home with your friends ’cause they parked their car at your house earlier in the night. You planned that ahead of time because its more fun to ride with friends. Have another nimosa.

Nightmoves is a column that details an ideal situation to see a couple shows, visit some cool bars where friends hang out, and have a few beers, all without having to spend a ton of money or be super cheap. Costs are relative and details are subject to change.
